Brihaspati College, named after Brihaspati the Divine Guru, believes that education is not limited to academic excellence alone. Along with quality education and academic norms, the college places equal emphasis on culture, humanity, character building, creativity, sports, and the overall development of its students. Thus, “Multi-Dimensional Progress” remains the guiding motto of the institution.
The foundation stone of the college was laid in 1993, and since then the institution has continually progressed towards new heights. It was initially established under the aided scheme in eight subjects of B.A. Subsequently, four more subjects were introduced. With the passage of time, the institution has continuously expanded its academic and professional programs.
In 2006, the B.Ed. faculty was established, followed by the introduction of B.Sc. and B.B.A. programs in 2007. Keeping pace with national and global challenges and the changing demands of the competitive world, the college has continued to introduce technical and professional courses alongside its graduation and post-graduation programs.
The college offers a wide range of U.G. and P.G. programs, along with technical and professional courses. Professional programs are generally structured over six semesters in three years and are integrated with regular educational programs, subject to applicable UGC and regulatory guidelines.

To support students in building successful careers, the college provides a Placement Cell and Employment Bureau and organizes career fairs. These initiatives create employment opportunities and help students meet the requirements of the competitive professional world. As the name of the institution is associated with the Divine Guru, the college gives special importance to Indian culture, human values, creativity, and social responsibility. “Ratnaakar Ke Geet” is a distinctive cultural initiative of the college. This cultural group encourages students to compose their own songs and geet and present group cultural dances. Under the guidance of convener Dr. Purnima Dwivedi and Dr. Neeraj Naagvanshi, students explore their creativity, develop their musical and cultural abilities, and represent the institution at various levels.
The group has earned first prizes and a continuous Runner-up Shield for the college at the CSJMU Youth Festival. Students are also encouraged to write, compose, and create their own albums under the guidance of Dr. Purnima Dwivedi.
To support students coming from outside the city, the college provides hostel accommodation for 36 students, with accommodation and mess facilities designed to offer a comfortable and supportive environment for study.
Since its foundation in 1993, the college has continued to expand across academic, professional, cultural, sporting, social, and creative fields. It remains committed to providing multi-dimensional development to its students.
